SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT per MS. WARREN

Ms. Warren has created the following plan to lower HARES class sizes to bring us into compliance with the state’s mandates. Two new multi-track classrooms will be created at HARES. One new first grade class will be created, and one new second grade class will be created. Both classrooms will serve all four tracks. Students will continue to come to school on the days of their designated track until the end of the school year. If you would like to volunteer your child to be moved to one of the new classrooms, please fill out the form provided at the meeting and/or sent home. All volunteer forms must be returned to the school by January 29th. If need be, the selection process will begin January 30th and families will be notified by February 10th. Once teachers are hired for the two classrooms, students will transition to the new classrooms. The two teachers will hold an Open House soon thereafter.

February 17th – in the morning – GREAT LEAPS TUTOR TRAINING. Great Leaps is a program designed to build reading fluency. It can only be implemented on a one-to-one basis, making it a great program for volunteer tutors. Each day students meet with a Great Leaps tutor for a quick 5-8 minute probe designed to increase proficiency in basic reading skills. If parent volunteers can commit at least an hour a day, two days per week, it would help us in implementing the program school-wide. Mrs. Parrick is offering a training for parent volunteers on February 17th (in the morning). Please contact her if you are interested at Mrs. Parrick
